<p>The Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS) hosted The Lord Choudrey CBE SI Pk, Chairman Bestway Group and Muhammad Jawaid Iqbal President &amp; CEO United Bank Limited (UBL).</p>



<p>His Lordship, who is also member of the United Kingdom’s House of Lords and the Chairman of Bestway Group presented a cheque of Rs 275 million on behalf of Bestway Group. Likewise, Muhammad Jawaid Iqbal, President and CEO of UBL, presented a cheque of Rs. 275 million on behalf of UBL.</p>



<p>Bestway Group Companies and Trusts have a long association with LUMS, with Bestway Foundation UK establishing an endowment at the Suleman Dawood School of Business in 1991, while UBL and Bestway Foundation have actively supported the National Outreach Programme at LUMS.</p>



<p>This generous gift to LUMS by the country’s largest business group and the country’s largest bank is a testament to their enduring belief that education is the cornerstone of national progress and that LUMS is best qualified to deliver this progress.</p>



<p>The donation will strengthen LUMS’ mission to make world-class learning accessible to exceptional students regardless of financial background and to nurture leadership grounded in innovation, integrity, and service to society.</p>



<p>The ceremony was attended by senior leaders from LUMS and the Bestway Group, including Syed Babar Ali, Founding Pro Chancellor, LUMS; Dr. Parvez Hassan, Chair, Board of Trustees, LUMS; Mr. Dawood Pervez, Managing Director, Bestway Wholesale and Trustee, Bestway Foundation UK; and Mr. Irfan Sheikh, Managing Director, Bestway Cement Ltd and Treasurer, Bestway Foundation Pakistan.</p>



<p>Speaking at the event, The Lord Choudrey said that LUMS provides a unique environment for its students. At LUMS students have access to the country’s leading academics, the best learning resources and inspiration.</p>



<p>Mr. Muhammad Jawaid Iqbal, President and CEO, United Bank Limited, reaffirmed UBL’s long-standing partnership with LUMS and its commitment to nurturing talent and innovation through education.</p>

<p>Lahore, September 5, 2025: Cambridge University Press &amp; Assessment and the Syed Ahsan Ali and Syed Maratib Ali School of Education (SOE) at LUMS have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to launch a strategic collaboration aimed at strengthening teacher education and leadership across Pakistan.<br>The MoU signing ceremony, held at LUMS, marks the beginning of a long-term partnership focused on enhancing the quality of teaching and learning through evidence-based programmes, professional development, and research initiatives.<br>Under this collaboration, Cambridge will bring its global expertise in education, including world-class research, qualifications, and quality assurance, while LUMS will contribute through its distinguished faculty, research-driven approach, and national outreach to scale impact across the country.<br>Highlighting the vision behind the collaboration, Peter Phillips, CEO, Cambridge University Press &amp; Assessment, said, “This partnership with LUMS represents a significant step forward in our mission to support educational excellence in Pakistan.
